Tamar Springer has been a licensed psychotherapist since 1991. She graduated from UCLA with both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Early in her career Tamar trained and worked at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Family Court Services, as a mediator. This early mediation training provided considerable experience in working with parents and families in high-conflict situations, and helping clients with communication and conflict resolution skills. Tamar gained expertise in helping people navigate sensitive and volatile issues within the context of highly charged emotions.
Tamar taught “Making Marriage Work”, at the American Jewish University, a 9-week class for couples considering marriage, for over 10 years. Tamar has had extensive adjunctive training in couples therapy and she is a Certified Sex Therapist. Tamar applies her knowledge in the sexuality field to helping new moms and dads navigate the difficult transition post-partum, and with women seeking greater comfort and satisfaction with their sexuality. Tamar also works with adolescents and their families offering sexuality education.
In 2005, Tamar created and established the first Post-partum Depression program for the longstanding agency, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles. The program is called "New Moms Connect" and provides education, support and resources for new moms and dads. The program continues to serve the community, today.
Tamar has been a frequent lecturer on sexuality, relationship, parenting and other topics to both professionals and laypersons for many years. Tamar was a featured speaker at the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists’ Annual Conference (CAMFT), The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), UCLA School of Social Work, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, and many other local agencies and organizations.
